Pass Security Plan

An optional Pass Security plan is available for USD 12 / AUD 14 / EUR 10 per person to reimburse for the unused portion of the rail pass in the event of loss or theft of the pass while travelling in Europe. This Pass Security is non-refundable and must be purchased at the same time as the rail pass. The Pass Security plan is available for any pass purchased via the eurail.com website.

Pass Security Coverage

In order to ensure peace of mind and protect your vacation, Pass Security is an essential addition. Eurail Passes are like cash. If you are traveling and the pass is lost or stolen, you will not be reimbursed unless you have Pass Security. Under the Pass Security Program, you are entitled to a full refund of the unused portion of your original rail passes or replacement tickets (whichever is lower).

If desired, you must purchase the pass security plan at the same time as the pass. When you order the pass online, you will see that the box for Pass Security is already set to accept. If you do not want to participate in the Pass Security Program you may change this and decline the protection.

How the Pass Security Plan Works

When your pass is lost or stolen while in Europe, report the loss/theft to the local police within 24 hours and obtain a police report. Purchase point-to-point tickets or another railpass for the remainder of your trip. Keep all receipts for travel. Within 30 days after returning to your home country file a claim for reimbursement.

Your claim should include:
A notarized written report of the circumstances of loss or theft, official police report, receipt for replacement tickets. You will then be reimbursed for 100% of the unused portion of the pass.
