Eurail Celebrates 10 Years of Island Hopping with the Greek Islands Pass

Utrecht, the Netherlands, 29th January 2024

Eurail proudly marks the 10-year anniversary of the Greek Islands Pass, a unique collaboration between Eurail and Attica Group. Beginning as a One Country Pass dedicated to travel between the Greek islands, this Pass reflects a decade of flexible and unforgettable island-hopping experiences in the idyllic Greek archipelago.

Collaborative Beginnings with Attica Group

The Greek Islands Pass began as a collaborative effort with the Attica Group, a Eurail B.V. member since 2000. Attica Group’s brand names, Superfast Ferries, Blue Star Ferries, Hellenic Seaways, ANEK, Lines, and Africa Morocco Link are established in the European maritime transport industry as synonyms of high-end quality ferry services. Superfast Ferries, facilitates travel on the Adriatic Sea between Italy and Greece, while Blue Star Ferries/Hellenic Sea Ways and Anek Lines operate in the Aegean Sea (Greek Islands). In 2014, Eurail and the Attica Group jointly developed a Pass tailored to travelers hopping from island to island in Greece.

A Decade of Evolution

2014: Attica Group OCP (One Country Pass) was launched on January 1st and is exclusively valid on Adriatic Sea routes.

2015: The Pass transitioned from offering travel days to number of trips, marked by a Press Conference on board Superfast XI to promote the Pass.

2016: The Attica Group OCP evolved into the Greek Islands Pass, extending its reach to domestic sea routes.

2018: Introduced 6 ferry trips for the Adriatic and 5 domestic trips with a new validity (5 or 6 trips in 1 month).

2021: Transitioned back to travel days, offering 6-day and 4-day validity. A 6-day Pass included 2 days for international travel between Italy/Greece and 4 days for national travel in Greece.

2023: The Mobile Greek Islands Pass was launched (4 days in May and 6 days in December).
