Trondheim is an old town that used to be the country's capital in the Viking Age. These days it's a student town with much to see. Check out the Nidaros Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace, which has been turned into a museum. Visit Munkolmen Island in the Trondheim fjord to learn more about Norse history.
The Nordland Railway will take you as far north as north goes: above the Arctic Circle. This is quite a long trip, so we advise you to travel by night and get some sleep along the way. Don't forget to look out of the train window for a first peek of the breathtaking Northern Lights.

The northernmost stop of the Nordland Railway is Bodø. It's a haven for hikers, who can spend days discovering the region's nature reserves. The nearby Lofoten Islands are a great place for cycling, rock-climbing or setting out to sea to spot killer whales. It's also one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights.
If you want to see more of Scandinavia, you can take a bus up to Narvik. This town is connected by train to Kiruna in Sweden. So if you're travelling with a Eurail Global Pass or a Eurail Scandinavia Pass, then you can continue your Eurail trip in Sweden.
