The Le Frecce are a series of modern high-speed trains connecting cities and towns all across Italy. From romantic Verona in the north to the baroque city of Lecce in the south, travel with Le Frecce trains for a speedy and comfortable trip with a great quality service. There are 3 types of Le Frecce train, called Frecciarossa (FR), Frecciargento (FA), and Frecciabianco (FB). Together, these trains cover most of Italy, including major cities such as Rome, Milan, Venice, and Naples.

Le Frecce routes

Frecciarossa (FR)

Frecciarossa is the fastest train in Italy with speeds up to 300km/h, using mainly the specially constructed high speed lines. The prime product is the Frecciarossa 1000, these are the most modern and fastest trains in Italy. Frecciarossa has frequent connections and runs with hourly departures on the routes: 

• Turin/Bergamo – Milan – Bologna – Florence – Rome – Naples – Salerno – Reggio di Calabria/Taranto/Lecce 
• Venice/Udine – Bologna – Florence – Rome – Naples – Salerno – Reggio di Calabria 
• Trieste/Venice/Bolzano – Verona – Brescia – Milano – Torino 
• Verona/Mantova/Bergamo/Bolzano – Bologna – Florence – Rome/Napoli 
• Turin – Milan – Bologna – Rimini – Ancona – Foggia – Bari – Lecce
  

Frecciargento (FA)

Frecciargento is the second fastest train in Italy with speeds up to 250km/h, using high speed conventional railway lines. Frecciargento has frequent connections and allow more connections to secondary cities on the routes:

• Trieste – Venice – Padua – Bologna – Florence – Rome 
• Trieste – Venice – Padua – Verona – Brescia – Milan – Turin/Genova
• Bolzano – Trento – Verona – Milan 
• Bolzano – Verona – Bologna – Florence – Rome – Napoli – Sibari 
• Genova – La Spezia – Pisa – Rome – Fiumicino Airport 
• Milan/Venice – Parma – Reggio Emilia – Modena – Bologna – Ancona – Pescara 
• Rome – Caserta – Benevento – Bari – Lecce 
• Rome – Napoli – Salerno – Reggio di Calabria

Some services are extended beyond the core lines to cities such as Reggio Calabria, Bolzano, Sibari, Taranto or Lecce.

Frecciabianca (FB)

Frecciabianca is the third fastest train in Italy with speeds up to 200km/h, using mainly conventional railway lines. Frecciabianca has frequent connections and allow more connections to secondary cities on the routes:

• Turin/Milano/Genua – La Spezia – Pisa – Roma 
• Ravenna – Rimini – Pesaro – Foligno – Terni – Roma

Freccialink (Frecce + bus)

Trenitalia offers bus connections with Freccialink to towns otherwise hard to reach by train. However, Freccialink bus reservations can only be made at train stations in Italy and by phone. They can only be booked in combination with Le Frecce trains. See here for more information.

Please note that the Eurail Pass is only valid on domestic Le Frecce trains. International routes are not included.

Reservations

Reservations for Le Frecce high-speed trains are compulsory. We recommend you make your reservations as far in advance as possible. For Le Frecce trains you can make reservations up to 3 months in advance.
